Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar (PTU Jalandhar) has been appointed by Government of Punjab for conducting entrance exams for admission to various engineering & architectural colleges in Punjab affiliated to following 3 universities of Punjab State viz: PTU Jalandhar, Punjabi University Patiala, GNDU Amritsar.
The Admission & Counseling of Punjab CET 2008 will held at Punjab Technical University Premises located on Ladowali Road, Jalandhar.

Hi Sahil,
For Non residents of Punjab appearing in CET-2008, the counselling is on 29.09.2008
For Punjab Residents, the counselling for your rank (i.e: 4001-4400) is on 05.07.2008 at 9:00am (PTU, Ladowali Road, Jalandhar.)

For Punjab Residents, the counseling for Ranks (3201-4000) is on 4.07.2008 at 9:00am (PTU Office, Ladowali Road, Jal.)
Regarding your doubts on 15% AIEEE quota, you should contact the PTU Entrance Test Admission Cell (PH: 0181-2233877).
My Advice:
1)You should PTU at above phone no., they will be happy to help you. It would be better if you personally visit PTU Office at Ladowali Road, Jalandhar (if it is convenient).
2)Moreover, You should read your PTU CET Prospectus/Information Brochure carefully for more details.
3)Visit PTU website: www.ptu.ac.in/cet-2008.htm for more details

Following documents are required for the counseling:
1)DD of Rs.2500 in favour of Registrar, PTU, Jal.
2)Migration Certificates given by your respective boards (like: CBSE etc.)
3)10th & +2 DMCs

Your selection to various colleges depends on your CET rank and your choice of course (like: Computer, Electrical or Electronics). Generally, For the computer couses, seats are the first to be filled. And if you want GNDU or Punjabi University then your rank should in top 200.

I think you should give preference to GNDU, Punjabi University, DAV, or CT Institute. These are best in Computer Science Field.
If you don't get admission computer engg. you could prefer Electronics Engg of these colleges.
Moreover, for those who are interested in computers but don't get seat in good college. They could do graduation in BCA (GNDU) and then do MCA (from GNDU preferably). It is regarded as par with B.Tech (Comp.) And another advantage is that, there are many good colleges in this region for computer courses (like: GNDU, Punjabi Univ., DAV, LPU, LKC etc.) and they all have good placement record.

For counseling of rank 8001 to 8800, the date is 11.07.2008
For 17401 to onwards, the counseling is on 25.07.2008
Regarding, good colleges everything depends on the hard work on your part. There is nothing as good or bad college for good students. You must attend the counseling, and see where you get the seat.

GNDU is first preference of every student in Punjab CET. So, chances for admission are decided by your good rank. But you could still try Sports Qouta etc.
Don't worry if you don't get GNDU there are many other good colleges in Punjab CET for Computer & Electronics like: DAV, GNE, Chitkara, Giana Zail Singh College, CT Institute etc.
